I got the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen – Soft (black body) in the mail the other day. I didn’t know that the black body was the soft variant – I thought it was the hard one. It turns out that the hard one is still coming in the mail. So I’ll probably post some more thoughts once I get that one.
If you don’t already know, one of the biggest problems I’ve been having is with the line thickness variance. All my lines up to and including comic strip 15 (where I am in my buffer right now) were done with Micron pens. Sometimes I would outline the characters, or try a little bit to vary the line thickness. All in all, though, it was pretty bad.
I didn’t like the Micron or Copic brush pens – they were way too soft and I would always end up making lines that were way too thick. I only had to play with them a little bit to know they’re not for me.
This Tombow brush pen is a lot harder. So I think I’m going to find it a lot easier to get the effect I’m looking for. I’m worried that it’ll suffer too much when I erase the pencils. We’ll see.
